FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York City, NY: The D'Oyly Carte Foundation held the Annual Spring Flower Ball at The Metropolitan Club of New York on May 5, 2023, in celebration of the coronation of King Charles III.  The black tie event was attended by members of the D’Oyly Carte Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Board of Advisors, sponsors, and fans of Gilbert & Sullivan.

The Grand Ballroom of the Metropolitan Club was beautifully decorated with floral arrangements, creating a stunning spring atmosphere. Guests were treated to a champagne, hor d’oeuvres, oysters and caviar reception in the Club’s foyer, followed by a full course dinner, and an evening of dancing, accompanied by by Paul Errico and his Orchestra.

Dr. Margaret Chustecki, a Board of Trustees member, stated, "The Annual Spring Flower Ball is one of the most anticipated D’Oyly Carte Foundation events of the year, and this year's celebration of the coronation of King Charles was particularly special. We were thrilled to see so many people come together to support the work of the D'Oyly Carte Foundation and the glorious legacy of Gilbert & Sullivan."

A highlight of the evening was the hilarious performance of “I am the Very Model of a Russian Major General” by Zachary N. Goldstein, Esq., who attended with his wife, Alexandra. Both are Gilbert & Sullivan devotees.
