The D'Oyly Carte Foundation Hosts A Holiday Luncheon Banquet at the Metropolitan Club of New York

New York, NY — On December 10, 2023, the D'Oyly Carte Foundation, in collaboration with American Industrial Acquisition Corporation (www.aiac.com) and the AIAC Foundation, came together to sponsor a delightful Holiday Luncheon Banquet at the prestigious Metropolitan Club of New York.  The event, which took place from 12 noon to 3 pm, provided an elegant and joyous celebration to mark the beginning of the holiday season.  Members of the Board of Trustees and Board of Advisors, along with invited guest attended in elegant holiday attire.

The Metropolitan Club of New York, an historic and iconic venue adorned for the occasion, served as the perfect backdrop for this collaborative effort, creating a captivating ambiance and enhancing the warm and inviting atmosphere of the event.

Following a champagne reception with music from Paul Errico’s Trio, on the first floor, the highlight of the occasion was the delectable spread of festive foods.  Guests were treated to an array of seasonal delicacies and culinary delights that added a flavorful touch to the holiday festivities.

The D'Oyly Carte Foundation is the American affiliate of the D'Oyly Carte Opera Trust Limited, which supports the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company. Since 1875, the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company has professionally produced the 14 Savoy operas of Sir W. S. These performances were greeted by rave reviews. Their lavish performance of the Gondoliers was broadcast throughout the UK on BBC-4 on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, and is available on BBC iPlayer and BBC America On Demand. On May 5, 2023, The D’Oyly Carte Foundation presented its Annual Spring Ball at the Metropolitan Club in New York.  On June 24, the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company presented a concert called Gilbert & Sullivan a la Carte at Eyot House on D’Oyly Carte Island.  D'Oyly Carte Island is a unique two-acre private island in the middle of the River Thames, 17 miles from London. It was the original mansion of Richard D’Oyly Carte.

D'Oyly Carte Opera Company and the D’Oyly Carte Foundation are now planning, in collaboration with Scotish Opera, a grand 2025 production of the 150th Anniversary of Trial By Jury by Gilbert & Sullivan, as well as The Merry Widow by Franz Lehar, which shall be presented throughout the UK and will be available on streaming video.  Trial by Jury, is the only known comic opera concerning litigation.  As a trained London solicitor himself, Sir W. S. Gilbert lampooned judge, jury, plaintiff, defendant, counsel, and bailiff in this hilarious 40 minute operetta, containing some of G&S’ best melodies and lyrics.
