The works of Gilbert and Sullivan were featured prominently in a recent national broadcast of CBS NCIS storyline. The B-story of the Season 23 episode "Gone Girls" revolved around the team being invited to a community theater gala with a Gilbert and Sullivan theme, at which NCIS accountant Barbara Dunsley was set to perform.

Key details from the episodes:

  • The plot of the episode centered around a mystery at the Gilbert and Sullivan gala.

  • It was revealed that Special Agent Alden Parker had previously participated in a high school production of The Pirates of Penzance.

  • Special Agent Jessica Knight expressed that she is not a fan of the genre.

  • Nick Torres, a big fan of the musical Hamilton, contrasted it with Gilbert and Sullivan, explaining that "Gilbert and Sullivan were the Lin-Manuel Mirandas of the Gilded Age".

This storyline appeared in multiple episodes in Seasons 21 and 22, with Barbara Dunsley reappearing to invite the team to her performance.
